Stabo

76 Cambridge Road, Impington, CB24 9NU

Based in Cambridgeshire we strive to create well made clothing and accessories, bursting with imagination, produced sustainably. We work with a variety of materials and techniques but leather work and screen printing are staples of our work. We think carefully about the footprint and processes of what we do this includes having short production runs or making to order, incorporating as many recycled materials as possible into our designs and using British suppliers. We love colour.

Producer Type

  • Wool, Textiles, Clothing etc

What do you produce?

Screen printed T shirts with our own designs; chickens, mustard types and bicycles are current favourites. Leather pouches, purses and sunglasses cases screen printed with our images. Bags recycled from mail bags, sheepskin hot water bottle covers and personalised leather passport holders. We have a wide range of gifts and clothing to choose from.

Where do you source your ingredients / materials from?

A variety of places but we have sourced recycled materials sometimes from industry, sometimes from surplus suppliers. Our leather and much of our materials is sourced through leather merchants and suppliers in the Northampton area who are still part of the traditional footwear industry that characterised the area. Our metal fittings for bags and accessories come from traditional UK fittings providers many of whom work in ways unchanged for decades; a shop front with cardboard boxes stacked up to the ceiling.

Why do your customers love your products?

For their sense of fun, their creativity and their ability to solve a problem.

What are your best selling products?

Screen printed T shirts and soft leather sunglasses case.

Where can we buy your products?

Online and in person although we tend to pop up all over the country in different places. You can also buy our products at a variety of shops including Topiary Tree, Histon, Gloagburn Farm Shop, Perth, Green Tulip, Devizes,

Are you open for visitors? If yes, what are your opening hours?

We are normally around and are happy to have visitors by appointment just call up or email us.

Have you received any awards / lovely recommendations from experts (don't be shy!)?

We have sold our gift items in a variety of high profile venues including the Royal Academy, The National Portrait Gallery, Heals and The Science Museum.

Do you sell wholesale? If so how do we get in touch with you to discuss further?

Yes, we love talking to wholesale customers and are happy to make to order to create something truly unique. Email or call us 07548 745197 or info@stabo.co.uk

Who's the best local producer near you (except you of course!)?

Les Ward in the next village sells the most delicious fruit and veg, it's a longstanding tragedy that the store in our village closed. Dorringtons in Arbury Court, where there is also a Les Ward, a mile or so down the road also sells the most amazing multi grain bread in the world, and..... so many more suppliers I could mention.

For anyone visiting your area what's your "must see" local place?

We're a couple of miles from central Cambridge so the university tends to dominate visitor itineraries here but the walk along the river from Cambridge to Ely is absolutely stunning. We've done it at sun rise and loved it. For those hoping for a slightly shorter walk hop on the train and start at Waterbeach, a few miles closer. You can easily get the Ely to Cambridge train back. There are loads of great places to go for breakfast or lunch in Ely, and an excellent weekend market.
