We are a traditional pub in the heart of the Essex Countryside. We are farmers and in our pub we sell the grass fed, salt marsh Aberdeen Angus beef and lamb that we raise on our farm next door. Our pub is a timeless and authentic bolthole. Once the airmen's pub for the nearby World War One airbase, the pub has changed very little since the turn of the last century. It is also family-run alongside our family farm. Nestled among the Crouch Valley’s vineyards in Stow Maries and serving wine from this region. We are near Maldon in Essex in beautiful countryside along the Crouch river so we have many visitors who are making their way on the coast path. There are footpaths that leave from the pub garden. We are also famous for our traditional cask ales, with 6 traditional beer engines. We are a free house and our ales change weekly at least. We also offer 4 beautiful rooms. We'd love to welcome you to our pub soon. It really is a special place.

Which local producers do you source from?

Our own farm, Morris Farm for Beef and Lamb which is next door to the pub. Sausages: Hummerstones Farm, Billericay. Chicken: Sutton Hoo. This isn't the nearest chicken supplier but it is the nearest supplier for which we deem the farming approach acceptable. Do we need to make a reservation? If so how do we do this?
