Glen Spean Producers Market

Ben Nevis Auction Mart, Torlundy, just off the A82 between Fort William and Spean Bridge

Glen Spean Market is the brainchild of Viv MacDonald and Liz MacMaster, who came up with the idea during lockdown after taking a course run by the Scottish Crofting Federation. Their aim was simple: to provide a once-a-month farmers market for local producers to sell their perishable goods, and to give the local community a good reason to gather. From those small beginnings, something genuinely special has taken root. Held in an avenue of colourful gazebos at the Ben Nevis Auction Mart, the market has a great outdoor feel and brings together a brilliant range of locally made produce and crafts from the Lochaber area with the magnificent backdrop of Ben Nevis and Aonach Mòr looking on. Located just off the A82 between Fort William and Spean Bridge, with plenty of easy access parking and the option to move inside when the weather demands it, the market draws a loyal crowd of locals and visitors alike. Stalls spill out across the site with everything from wild Highland venison and artisan charcuterie to craft spirits, organic market garden vegetables, baked goods and hand-crafted gifts. Hot drinks are on hand to keep spirits up, whatever the season. The market also makes a special effort to support local organisations, charities and clubs, with each month's market helping to raise funds for or awareness of a different community cause. October brings the added spectacle of Oktoberfest at Glen Spean Brewery, with extended hours and a particularly festive atmosphere. This is a market that earns its reputation - busy, warm, and rooted in the land and people of one of Scotland's most dramatic landscapes.
