Berry Farm in the Cotswolds
Berry Farm, Silver St, South Cerney, Cirencester, GL7 5TR
The stone farmhouse at Berry Farm dates to 1580, and the farm has existed on this site in South Cerney since at least 1856. Claire's great grandfather bought it in 1932 and it has remained in the family ever since. Claire remembers harvest time when her grandfather Ray owned the farm, climbing up into the hay bales as he went about the village with his horse and trap. Claire and Chris are the fourth generation of family to live at Berry Farm. They returned in 2006 with a vision to restore the farm and open it up to the community - and have done so in the best possible way, keeping it a working farm while building a life and a small business around it. This is a working farm with an ancient orchard and fields full of happy sheep. the lambs are born and reared on the farm. They enjoy a free-range life and are able to fatten slowly in the herb-rich grass meadows of the orchard which produces beautifully flavoured meat. Apples ripen in the late autumn which are then all picked by hand and then take them to a local fruit farm who presses and bottles them ready for the farm. The lamb is available as a range of cuts - see the order form on the website for full details. The bottled apple juice is also available to buy direct.
