South Brockwells Farm near Uckfield in East Sussex grows its own asparagus and has been selling it direct to the public since 1976. The farm covers over 300 acres, raising sheep, pigs and growing seasonal vegetables and the homegrown asparagus, cut fresh each season, is one of the highlights of the farm shop calendar each spring. The farm shop opens a few days a month, over one week showcasing seasonal produce, home-reared pork and lamb, locally sourced beef and wild game, with more frequent opening during asparagus season. This is a farm that has been recognised for doing things right: Awarded Best Rural Business and Business of the Year at the Uckfield Business Awards 2022; British Farming Award for Diversification of the Year 2022; The Clarissa Dickson Wright Award from the Countryside Alliance 2023 and the Countryside Alliance Rural Oscar for the South East in the Rural Enterprise category. The Poachers' Pocket mobile catering unit serves farm-produced sausages and burgers at events on site.
