Daynes Farm Shop, Harberton, Devon
Harberton, Totnes, Devon
The shop at Daynes Farm sits at the centre of a working organic holding outside Totnes, with the cattle, sheep and goats that stock its counter visible from the doorway. Dave and Helen Camp opened it recently alongside the butchery, as an outlet for their organic beef, lamb, goat and pork - and as a place to put the work of other South Hams producers they trust on the same shelf as their own. You'll find Sharpham Cheese from a short drive away near Totnes, How Now Dairy, Luscombe Drinks from Buckfastleigh, Good Game charcuterie, chillies from South Devon Chilli Farm, ice cream from Surfing Cow, herbs from Herb Devon, coffee from Beach Barista and chicken from Spindle Wood Farm. There is veg from the Camps' rotation in season: leeks, courgettes, kale and cabbages. The shop also carries bread, eggs, charcoal for the BBQ and the staples that mean a single trip will do for the week. Closed Monday and Tuesday; otherwise open through to Sunday afternoon.

What do you sell?
Daynes Farm's own organic beef, lamb, goat and pork from the on-site butchery, with cuts changing through the week as carcasses come off the block. Veg from the Camps' rotation when in season: leeks, courgettes, kale and cabbages. Cheese, dairy, drinks, charcuterie, chillies etc. Everything is sourced either from the farm itself or from a short list of South Hams and South Devon producers the Camps stock by name. Nothing is anonymous; nothing has travelled far.
Which local producers do you stock?
Sharpham Cheese, made on the Sharpham Estate near Totnes. How Now Dairy. Luscombe Drinks from Buckfastleigh. South Devon Chilli Farm. Good Game, makers of British charcuterie. Surfing Cow ice cream. Herb Devon, supplying fresh and dried herbs. Beach Barista coffee. Spindle Wood Farm chicken. The Camps stock by name and not by category: every supplier on the shelf is one they have chosen to back, and most sit within an hour's drive of Harberton. The shelf reads as a working list of South Hams producers worth knowing.
