Bronfelen Farm Glamping and Wild Camping, Carmarthenshire

Bronfelen, Cynghordy, Llandovery, Carmarthenshire, SA20 0LW

One yurt, one field and the Cynghordy Viaduct arching across the skyline. Our off-grid glamping yurt sits on our working farm at Bronfelen, near Llandovery in Carmarthenshire, with the Heart of Wales railway running below and the Towy Valley opening out toward Pen y Fan beyond. There is only ever one yurt in the space where it's pitched, so the field, the fire pit and the shower are yours alone. Inside is a superking bed under a clear panel for stargazing, a log burner for the evenings and no mains electricity to bother with. The kitchen sits just outside, close enough to hear the kettle from bed. There is a hot shower and, unusually for glamping, a flushing toilet. For those who want it rougher, we open the farm to off-grid wild campers too. A slate track climbs to pitches with long views over the valley and the Brecon Beacons, on the understanding that you come self-sufficient and leave no trace. You will share the place with our sheep, our hens and a dog or two. We are a young family who moved here from Sussex in 2020. Summer is our favourite time, when the farm is at its best and there are people in the field to share it with. Bring a torch and good boots.

What do you produce?

This is a working sheep and pig farm across 53 acres. We lamb around 180 ewes a year and raise pigs for pork, with free-range hens, ducks, bees and dogs sharing the place. Our sheep graze the farm year-round, and some also graze conservation land for The Carbon Community at nearby Glandwr Forest. During your stay you can buy what is in season from the little shop by the yard: our own free-range eggs, honey from our bees and elderflower cordial we make ourselves. The lamb and pork we raise is sold through our farm shop and delivered across Britain.

Tell us about your rental accomodation

The yurt is a on private space set in its own field. Inside there is a superking bed beneath a clear panel for stargazing, a log burner and proper bedding. It runs off grid with no mains electricity, though we provide a power bank and the 4G signal is good if you cannot quite switch off. Just outside is a kitchen with a gas stove and kettle, with tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper and oil already there, so you only bring your own ingredients. A fridge for your food and drink sits in one of the barns. The shower shack has a hot shower and a flushing toilet, both for your use alone. The fire pit comes with your first basket of logs on us. For the wild camping on the farm, get in touch with us to book your spot.

How many people can you accommodate?

The yurt sleeps up to four. The standard setup is a superking bed that suits two and splits into two singles. For a family or a group of friends we add two more single beds to make four. Larger groups can bring tents into the surrounding field at extra cost, sharing our facilities, so ask if there are more of you.
