The Glynne Arms, Hawarden, Flintshire
3 Glynne Way, Hawarden, Deeside, CH5 3NS
Until the early 1900s the courtyard behind The Glynne Arms was a livestock market. It is a pub now, in the middle of Hawarden village in Flintshire, and the courtyard is where you sit in summer. Look to the right of the building and you will see the arches where village butchers once cut and sold their meat. The Glynne Arms is part of Hawarden Estate, and the food is built around local and seasonal produce. The menus champion fruit and vegetables grown just a stone's throw from the pub, alongside produce from local farmers, growers and foragers. Chef Adam Williams heads up the food, with menus that change through the seasons. There is a Sunday roast, tapas from 5pm on Thursdays, bar snacks and sandwiches from noon until five Monday to Saturday, and the main menu Wednesday to Saturday. The bar is worth the trip on its own. Local beer is prominent on the pumps, with Flintshire's Facers among the breweries the pub works with. The wine list runs to Welsh, biodynamic and natural bottles, which is not what most coaching inns built around 1812 are pouring. Dee Valley CAMRA named it their LocAle Pub of the Year in 2025, an award that goes to pubs backing local breweries. Two hundred years of standing in the same spot and it is still the reason people walk up the hill.

Awards and Recognition
Dee Valley CAMRA LocAle Pub of the Year 2025. The LocAle scheme recognises pubs that consistently stock beer from local breweries, so the award says something specific about how this bar is run rather than being a general commendation. The pub has also previously been named AA Welsh Pub of the Year.

Our sourcing story
The Glynne Arms is part of Hawarden Estate, and its food is built around local and seasonal produce. Fruit and vegetables are grown just a stone's throw from the pub, with local butchers, bakers, farmers, growers and foragers supplying more of what reaches the kitchen. Chef Adam Williams heads up the food, with menus that change as the seasons do. The drinks list follows the same logic outward. Local beer is prominent on the pumps, with Flintshire's Facers among the breweries the pub works with, while the wine list includes Welsh, biodynamic and natural producers. The arches outside, where village butchers once traded, are a reminder that food and farming have been part of this spot for a very long time.
