Chettle Village Store, Chettle, Dorset
The Old Cart Shed, Lower Farm, Chettle, DT11 8DA
We're the village shop and café in the small North Dorset village of Chettle, just off the A354 between Blandford and Salisbury, in the Cranborne Chase National Landscape. For years we traded from a little temporary building in the village. Today you'll find us in The Old Cart Shed at Lower Farm — but the pies are still one of the things people come looking for. We're a village store, greengrocer and café under one roof, with a particular focus on good food grown and made close to home. Some of our vegetables travel just a few hundred yards, grown on Chettle land by The Veg Lady, and we sell wild venison from the Chettle Estate. Our shelves bring together produce from Chettle and independent producers further afield, alongside the everyday groceries a village needs. At the café counter you'll find barista coffee, homemade cakes, sandwiches and the pies and pasties we're known for. We've hosted the Chettle Makers Market here too, bringing local makers into the yard for the day. There's free parking and dog-friendly outdoor seating, and Chettle makes a lovely starting point for exploring the surrounding countryside. Stop for a pie. Leave with tomorrow's breakfast.

What do you sell?
We're a village shop, greengrocer and café under one roof, selling organic and seasonal fruit and veg, Chettle Estate wild venison, bread, eggs, cream and dairy, everyday groceries, health foods, drinks including local cider, and a selection of locally made gifts. At the café counter you'll find barista coffee, homemade cakes and sandwiches, plus pies and pasties. There's dog-friendly outdoor seating and free parking, making us a handy stop for coffee or lunch while exploring this part of North Dorset.
Which local producers do you stock?
ome of it couldn't be much more local. The Veg Lady grows vegetables on Chettle land and also runs her own veg box scheme, while our wild venison comes from the Chettle Estate. Our pies and pasties are made by Chunk of Devon, eggs come from Fluffetts, double cream from Ivy House Farm and bread from Orchard Bay Bakery. For drinks, we stock cider from Cranborne Chase Cider and water kefir from Agua de Madre. These sit alongside produce from other suppliers around us, and we're always interested in finding good things being grown or made nearby. If you're a producer close to Chettle and think you belong on our shelves, come in and talk to us.
