Walsingham Estate Vineyard, Walsingham, Norfolk
Walsingham Estate, 10 Common Place, Walsingham, Norfolk, NR22 6BP
The vines of Walsingham Estate Vineyard grow on the chalk of the Stiffkey valley, on the Walsingham Estate in north Norfolk, a few miles inland from Wells-next-the-Sea. The estate grows three grapes, Bacchus, Solaris and Pinot Noir, and they go into both still and sparkling wines. It's a vineyard on very old farmland, in a part of the county better known for barley than for wine, and it's a good example of how far English wine has spread from its southern heartland. One to look out for on wine lists along this stretch of coast.
