Goodies Food Hall, Pulham Market, Norfolk
Pulham Market, Diss, Norfolk, IP21 4XU
Goodies Food Hall in Pulham Market, Norfolk, started with Stuart Gooderham selling potatoes from a trailer behind his tractor. Today, Stuart, his wife Kim and their children Lewis and Abby run a food hall at French's Farm, near Diss, with its own butchery, bakery, deli and restaurant. The butchery buys its meat from local farms, and the restaurant cooks with what the butchery cuts. The bakery bakes from scratch on site, and the kitchen makes a range of ready meals in house. Fruit and veg come from farms nearby. The cheese counter carries more than sixty cheeses, Norfolk ones among them, and the drinks shelves lean on beer, wine and spirits from the region. Goodies is a member of the Farm Retail Association. It's a big shop and, in fairness, plenty comes from further afield. What interests me most are the butchery and bakery, where the work is done on site. The restaurant opens at half past eight. I'd have breakfast before heading to the butchery counter.

What do you sell?
A food hall with its own butchery, bakery, deli and restaurant. The butchery cuts meat bought from local farms, and the same meat goes into the restaurant kitchen. The bakery bakes bread, pastries and puddings from scratch on site. The cheese and deli counter carries more than sixty cheeses, including Norfolk cheeses. There's fresh fruit and veg from nearby farms, a range of ready meals made in house, groceries and store-cupboard staples, and beer, wine and spirits from local producers. Hampers are made up to order, and gift cards work in both the shop and the restaurant. The restaurant serves from 8.30am every day.
Which local producers do you stock?
The butchery buys its meat from local farms, and the fruit and veg on the shop floor come from farms nearby. On the cheese and deli counter, Norfolk cheeses sit among more than sixty on offer. The beer, wine and spirits shelves carry drinks made by producers in the region. The bakery and kitchen teams also make their own bread, pastries, puddings and ready meals on site. Ask at the butchery counter if you want to know where a particular cut came from.
