Astley Vineyard

Astley Vineyard is one the UK's oldest, with vines on the global Old Vine Registry. It is family owned and run by the Haywoods. It is best known for its still white wines. Visitors are welcome in their pretty cellar door Tasting Room & shop. They also run award winning [and sell out] tours every weekend in the summer. There are two shepherd huts in the vineyard for short breaks

What do you produce?

Astley produces a range of still white, sparkling, semi sweet and occasionally, light red wines from its onsite vineyard. It also makes its own wine-based vermouth with a range of botanicals and locally produced spirit

Where do you source your ingredients / materials from?

Astley Vineyard has around 6,000 vines and all the grapes harvested are used in their own winery. All wines are 'single estate'. The owners are committed to minimising chemical interventions in their vineyard and in the wine making process.

Why do your customers love your products?

Astley sells almost all its wine to visitors to their pretty Tasting Room. Visitors love meeting members of the family who do all the work themselves and are passionate about their little estate. Astley's commitment to sustainability and low intervention winemaking ensures the wines taste full of fruit!

What are your best selling products?

Astley is best known for its very old Kerner vines [a relation of Riesling]. It is the only vineyard in the UK growing them commercially. They produce a delicious selection of Kerner based wines in their own winery - both sparkling and still whites.

Where can we buy your products?

Astley's range of wines are available from the vineyard shop and online on the website. There is also a few Worcestershire farm shops with limited stocks

Are you open for visitors? If yes, what are your opening hours?

The vineyard shop is open from Friday to Sunday every week, from 10.30 am to 4 pm. Appointments can be arranged outside these hours. Tours run every weekend throughout the Summer - booking absolutely essential.

Who's the best local producer near you (except you of course!)?

Worcestershire is known for its fruit and alcohol producers so there's lots to try. The Piston Gin range is particularly delicious and Nothing Bound Brewery, just a couple of miles away, is amazing.

For anyone visiting your area what's your "must see" local place?

Visiting Astley? There's so much to do within a 20 minute drive - the riverside cathedral city of Worcester has lots of independent shops and restaurants, Severn Valley Railway runs along the beautiful river from nearby Bewdley and the vineyard is next to ancient Shrawley woods. the Visit Worcestershire website has lots of ideas for your visit!
