Groombridge Farm Shop
Groombridge Hill, Groombridge, near Tunbridge Wells, TN3 9LY
Groombridge Farm Shop has been growing asparagus at New Park Farm in Groombridge since 1991. The shop itself started life in 2001 as nothing more than "the asparagus hut." In the years since it has grown into a fully fledged farm shop devoted to Kent and Sussex produce, but asparagus remains the centrepiece and asparagus season, April to June, remains the busiest time of year. The asparagus is grown in Tunbridge Wells sand (free-draining soil the Romans first cultivated for the crop 2,000 years ago) cut early every morning, cooled and bundled for sale the same day. The farm also grows strawberries, raspberries, cherries, plums, damsons, gooseberries, blueberries, greengages, blackberries and a range of seasonal vegetables. Free-range hens live around the top fruit. 90% of everything on the shelves is sourced from Kent and Sussex. An online click and collect service is also available
