The Hungry Farmer is a food trailer based in Matterdale End, The Lake District. I offer grass fed local meat. I do private bookings and regular pop-ups for the public e.g. beer festivals and local shows. Our farm is ran regeneratively with Pedigree Belted Galloway cows and Herdwick sheep that are outside year round on 100% grass fed diets. The meat is such high quality that is deserved to shine in its own right, I cook hearty homely dishes e.g. pulled pork, burgers, stews, curry’s, flatbreads. I try to use local producers at every opportunity for example cheese from Torpenhow creamery 15miles away, bread from ‘More?’ Artisan bakery 20miles away and soft drinks produced 5miles away.

Which local producers do you source from?

Meat from ourselves and neighbouring farms in similar systems (pork, lamb, beef) eggs from Miller Farm shop 3 miles away. Cheese from Torpenhow creamery 15miles away. Bread from ‘More?’ Artisan bakery 20miles away. Soft drinks from lakes soda produced 5miles away in Greystoke.
