Morghew Park is an ancient agricultural estate on the outskirts of Tenterden, Kent - and its honesty stall on Smallhythe Road has become one of the most characterful places to buy produce in England. There is no till, no shop assistant, no queue. Just an honest stall, a remarkable range of produce grown on the estate and a trust that people will pay fairly. The team grows at least twenty varieties of potatoes every year on 35 acres of the best ground on the estate: from King Edwards and Desiree to Vitelotte (a deep purple French heritage variety), Pink Fir Apple, La Ratte, Arran Victory, Golden Wonder and more. Potatoes are organised by cooking method on the website; roast, mash, jacket, chip, salad, dauphinoise, hasselback and can be ordered online with delivery to mainland UK. In early spring, naturally grown wild garlic is picked on the estate and supplied via mail order through the website and delivered to restaurants locally. Also at the stall and online: award-winning cold-pressed rapeseed oil grown and pressed on the estate; stoneground wholemeal flour made from the estate's own wheat, rye and spelt; seasonal wild game including pheasant, pigeon, duck and venison; estate honey; and kindling, logs, hay, straw and feed wheat. A potato vodka distilled from Yukon Gold potatoes grown on the estate is also available.
