Rosemains Steading Quarterly Markets
Rosemains Steading, Preston Hall Estate, Pathhead, Midlothian, EH37 5UQ
Rosemains Steading CIC is a collaborative community of businesses located in rural Midlothian, just ten minutes from the Edinburgh bypass, set within a converted historical farm steading on the Preston Hall Estate. It is one of the most distinctive small business communities in Scotland and four times a year, it opens its doors wide to the public with their seasonal markets. The steading is home to 13 resident businesses ranging from artists and breweries to a coffee roaster and a botanical skincare company, including a wildflower meadow where many of the skincare ingredients are grown. At the quarterly markets, those resident businesses are joined by a carefully selected community of makers, growers and independents from across the Lothians - the kind of line-up that consistently rewards a visit and rarely repeats itself. Towards the end of 2023, Rosemains Steading officially became a Community Interest Company, with the aim of bolstering the resilience of resident businesses and providing additional routes to market for local entrepreneurs. The markets are a direct expression of that mission - supporting the people who make and grow and connecting them with the people who want to buy. The Summer Market is held in conjunction with Open Farm Sunday, bringing tractor and trailer rides, farm tours, machinery displays and experts on hand from AHDB and Lothian RHET, making it as much a farming day out as a market. Every event across the year is family friendly, dog friendl, and anchored by excellent food and drink from resident and local suppliers.
