Hello, I'm Brigitte, the founder of Twisted Vintage. My eye for style and thrift started young; I grew up in the Black Forest in Germany in the 70s and 80s. My mum was a big on recycling, no waste and making what we had last longer – she taught me many of these useful lifelong skills including sewing, darning and knitting. In my 20s I travelled the world for a number of years, ending up in London where I found a job as a nanny for a family where the Mum was an fashion photography agent. She told me I have a good “eye for style”; finding me work assisting fashion stylists (for example I assisted on Hussin Chalayan’s shows where a young Erin O’Conner was one of the models!) and I became a full time photographers assistant – helping me to hone my “eye” further. In 2008 I got together with my friend Caroline who shared a passion with me for fashion and vintage style to start creating the first Twisted Vintage pieces. Our aim was to revive, recycle and recreate beautiful hand crafted vintage jewellery that would beunique and personal for the wearer; whilst also extending the life of something that had been made decades earlier that would otherwise be thrown away. We discovered that that by taking vintage and pre-loved pieces of unwanted or broken jewellery, we could use our skill and creative expertise to design new pieces of jewellery, with a modern twist; so much more personal and beautiful than buying “new”. The first tiny collection of Twisted Vintage jewellery was sold to friends and family and soon word got out. Demand for these decorative necklaces and bracelets grew. I now design and create bracelets, necklaces, limited edition of earrings, glasses chains and unique Statement earrings and I have recently created a vintage Sterling silver range, each unique with their own individual twist. What do you produce?

The Twisted Vintage range now includes earrings, bracelets, necklaces and glasses chains. Each product is a unique, one off design with a modern twist. Influenced by the changing seasons, Twisted Vintage designs are infused with my passion for the materials I use; Bakelite from the 1920s; original gems, Trifari from the 40s and the 50s; and semi-precious stones that span the decades. Every single piece of Twisted Vintage jewellery is lovingly designed and created from scratch, by hand: Step 1: break up Step 2: clean Step 3: redesign with a modern edge Step 4: pack in pouch When I have found a number of identical beads in a vintage piece …. I will make a limited edition run of earrings. My approach means that you are buying a piece that is very unique to you. A vintage design, with just that small nod to contemporary trends - meaning it will perfectly complement your own individual style. Each piece of jewellery also comes in a beautiful custom-made, hand-stitched vintage pouch, making them a sustainable gift for a loved one too.
