Every part of what we do comes back to that: helping people find and experience what’s made nearby — the food, the craft, the people and the sense of place that connects it all.
Last month, I spent a day with the kind and very talented Pat and Roger from Aspen Press in Orford, Suffolk, who helped us create something to help us all do just that this Christmas.
Introducing the Produced Near-By IOU Cards
These are not vouchers.
They’re invitations — small letterpress-printed promises, created with care, designed to help you give the gift of time together.
Each one is letterpress printed by Aspen Press in Suffolk, using card made in Cumbria.
You simply fill in the blank.
It could be:
- a coffee and pastry at your favourite real bread bakery
- a workshop with a local maker
- a box of something special from your local butcher or farm shop
- a trip to pick-your-own fruit and veg
- an off-grid farm stay
- a special tour seeing how produce is grown
- a field-to-fork meal they won’t forget
Then you give it to someone you’d love to spend more time with.
It’s simple, but meaningful — a small act of connection that supports the people behind local food, craft and farming.
Why We Made Them
We don’t need more throwaway stuff. We need more time together — and more ways to support the people who keep local life alive.
That’s what the Produced Near-By IOU Card is for: to help you gift something genuine.
A slow gift. A local gift. A thoughtful alternative to the kind of mass-produced presents that fill our bins and charity shops by January.
How to Get Yours
This is a limited first print run, and each card costs £4. They’ll be ready for sale later this week — just in time for sustainable Christmas gifting.
If you’d like to preorder your Produced Near-By IOU Cards, DM us on Instagram and we’ll put one aside for you.
