Feltham's Farm is a certified organic cheesemaker sitting on 22 acres of the Blackmore Vale in South Somerset, just outside Templecombe. Marcus Fergusson and Penny Nagle moved to the farm in 2014 and started making cheese in 2017 - the origin story involves redundancy, a one-day River Cottage course, and absolutely no looking back. Their flagship is Renegade Monk, a soft blue washed in organic ale, whose name nods to the Knights Templar monks who once held sway in the village. The full range now runs to five: Rebel Nun, Gert Lush (their Somerset take on a Camembert), La Fresca Margarita (a queso fresco inspired by travels in Latin America), and Lucky Marcel - a soft, yeast-ripened cheese that took Supreme Champion at the World Cheese Awards 2024, one of only six British cheeses to do so. La Fresca Margarita won Best Organic Cheese at the Artisan Cheese Awards the same year. Every cheese in the range holds two stars from the Great Taste Awards. The milk comes from the Godminster herd just outside Bruton, and the farm itself runs on 40kW of solar panels and ground source heat pumps. Waste whey feeds their rare breed Iron Age pigs, local deliveries go out in an electric van, and over 1,500 native trees have been planted on site since 2015. They are fully certified organic with the Soil Association and set up the Organic Cheesemakers' Network in 2024 to push those standards across the wider industry. The cheeses are available at independent farm shops, London farmers' markets and online with nationwide delivery. The farm also takes guests - there is a cottage and cabin available year round, plus cheese-making experiences for those who want to get closer to the process.
