Middle Ground Growers
Weston Spring Farm, Broadmoor Lane, Bath BA1 4LJ
Middle Ground Growers started in 2020 with two acres, a bike, and an idea - grow good food for local people and get it to them without a van. What began as a handful of veg boxes delivered around Bath has grown into a 16 acre farm just outside the city at Weston Spring Farm, supplying over 200 households a week, 12 local outlets, and the Bath Farmers Market every Saturday. The farm is designed around permaculture principles, no dig beds, agroforestry, orchards, a nuttery, and wetland ponds sit alongside four polytunnels and eight acres of field crops. Everything is certified organic, delivered by e-bike, and grown with a close eye on soil health and biodiversity. They're a Community Interest Company, which means the work comes first. The small team of five is backed by volunteers and seasonal trainees, many of whom go on to set up their own market gardens. Subsidised and free veg boxes are part of the offer too, they're genuinely trying to make good food accessible, not just aspirational. If you're in Bath or Bristol and want a veg box, they've got one for every household size. If you're a local business looking for an honest, traceable supplier, they're worth a conversation.
